DEAR READER: THE JUXTAPOSITION OF THIS POST WITH THE LAST ONE IS NOT IRONIC AT ALL. I MEAN. UH. NOT INTENTIONALLY.
I'm not gonna be around tomorrow for too long, so now is the only time I have to remind you about Spring Fest. At the very start of it, we were calling this the "Mini-con", which is about how you can think of it. We grab a couple rooms, we put on the kinds of showings and events one might expect from an anime con (but smaller), you have a lovely time. This is free, and it's going on at NYU Poly in Brooklyn. If you're local, please come by! Everything you need to know, including directions, a list of events, and a full schedule, is up on the website. If you get there by noon for my showing of MOST DANGEROUS ANIME, you-- and, going by the turnout last year, probably just three other people and my buddies-- get to watch a certain Japanese animated film about rock geometry. I haven't watched it myself yet! I just want to share the moment with all of you. If I have some more time, perhaps I'll also be able to run parts of a certain other Japanese animated film that didn't make its deadline? Last year, you missed out on literally hundreds of "say, what does MD Geist stand for?" jokes, so don't miss out this year and froth your anticipation!
(no, we don't have time to actually watch Odin)
(I'm sorry)
Edit 3.14.09: Hi guys, I don't think that anybody who'd read this is actually going to see it, but I just want to note that MD Anime has been moved from the Lounge to room 474. Just a heads-up.
Well I went to MD Anime. I had a good time all and all. It gave me a chance to watch the masterwork of cinema that was Crystal Triangle.
There was no Loudness or fools running all over the Odin scene so I was slightly disappointed. I figured we would get to see a little of Odin. Such is life.
