The more I think about the events of the game and the way Rook is characterized, the less likely it is that he's going to make it through an entire year as a teacher. Dude racks up a laundry list of inappropriate and sometimes even illegal acts (depending on your choices, to be fair) and definitely doesn't follow the sort of reasonable process one would expect a teacher to follow when one of their students stops showing up for weeks at a time. Like, perhaps, asking the administration for a straight answer rather than accepting a particularly condescending and unprofessional message on the subject.

    HERE THERE BE SPOILERS

Yeah, the totally detached administration was really odd. I mean, the kind of snooping you do in most of the game is one thing, but for there to be no consequences for viewing a couple sexting, well.. that was a bit much for my suspension of disbelief.

While DTIP has some very likeable characters and tells a fairly decent story, the lack of any significant branching really hurts it. IMO, a good VN should strive to make the player feel like he actually has a critical role in the game. That means you're either actively working to uncover a mystery or influencing how events unfold through your interactions with characters and the environment. If you just end up going through the motions in what ultimately amounts to a linear story, then you're not really playing much of a game, now are you?

Also, I can't believe my first comment on your blog is about a visual novel, lol...

This guy swears a lot in narration for a teacher.
